MY WEDDING MAKEUP

I kind of can’t believe I’m writing this post. For as long as we’ve been planning this day (almost a year), I feel like it just hit me that it’s almost here! This is my last post before the big day and I’m so excited to team up with L’Oreal Paris to show you guys my wedding makeup.

I decided to do my own makeup because it’s something that I genuinely enjoy and I find it relaxing. Also, since a large part of my job is beauty, I tend to have a good idea of what looks good on my face – I have been painting it for 15 odd years. I tried out a few different looks throughout the year leading up, but ended up going back to something similar to my engagement party look – a soft smokey eye with warm bronze shades (using the new Paradise Enchanted palette), a slight cat eyeliner, a peachy cheek with glowing highlighter, and a defined nude lip.

I also wanted this wedding look to be accessible – not everyone can afford a $100 foundation and you also don’t need to. Drugstore makeup has come a long way and the right products do their job very well. Hopefully this is helpful for you guys!

    Dear Jill,
I just discovered your blog last week, and since I spend my lunch watching your videos at my office, in front of my PC and my poke bowl. I’m from Paris and I just a-do-re your tone, your simplicity and your style… Hope it will last ! I married man-of-my-life last September in Paris and as you will, I made my make-up myself. Because I didn’t want someone else “deprive” me of something I usually like to do, especially on that special day. I wish you the most wonderful day !
ps: I went yesterday to the drugstore (actually, maybe you’ve heard about the “Pharmacie rue du four”: it’s famous for its incredibly low prices compared to other shops, and I’m pretty sure it’s recommended in travelling books considerering the hundreds of tourists each day) close to my home and bought a La Roche Posay sunscreen, swearing that for the first time I’ll use a sunscreen every single day. We’ll see if I’ll keep that ! Cheers… Caroline

    Hi Jill!
This tutorial is just so great! I follow so many influencers on Instagram but your blog is definitely my absolute favorite, because of its soft and elegant but still very down to earth vibes. My sister and I are obsessed with your chic style and are totally inspired by your makeup tutorials!
I LOVED your wedding-day make up (and dress!!). My wedding is in a year and I am looking for a makeup artist in NYC to achieve a similar look to your wedding-day makeup (and hair). I am totally overwhelmed by the amount of makeup artists in the city and terrified of not finding a good fit for me. So I am reaching out to you – if you have a recommendation of someone that you know and love in NYC I would appreciate it so so much!

Thanks a million! I cannot wait to see more of your wedding day!

      Hi Bar,

Thank you so much love! Congrats, that is so, so exciting! I don’t have someone offhand that I know, but let me look into the makeup artists and ask around. Can you shoot me an email so we can chat more extensively?

      Thanks!
      xx Jill

I am a follower some time now, love your simple, yet chique style! Since my wedding day is coming up, I have also decided to do my own makeup (even though a lot of ppl find that odd :)) and your tutorial really helped me! I have one question though, did you have problems with “ghost” flashbacks on the photos? On the posts from your Instagram it didn’t look so, but I want to make sure before I purchase:) cause I can’t and won’t spend zillion dollars on setting powder. Thanks so much for your time in advace.

      Hi Marina,

I’m SO happy it was helpful! I didn’t have any issues with flashbacks at all (and I did wear sunscreen). One of my favourite setting powders is the Dermablend Banana illuminating powder – it sets so well and isn’t cakey at all. It’s about $30, so not too pricey compared to some other ones.

Congrats on your wedding, hope you have an amazing time!

      xx Jill
