Citizens of Humanity jeans (top) | J Brand jeans

I want to talk about pant hems. Or more specifically, pant hem lengths. They are so commonly overlooked… and make such a BIG difference (seriously). It’s one of the best styling tips I know.

I recently had a reader ask about a favourite pair of J Brand jeans on Instagram. These are the jeans that I get the most compliments on and I honestly think it’s because of the length. The hem should hit at the slimmest part of your leg, about 1-1.5″ above your ankle. Sometimes I hem mine a bit longer and them roll them up for a bit of leeway with the length.

I use this tailoring trick with both pants and skirts (both below the knee and mini; use the same “slimmest part” concept). I hope this tip is as helpful for you as it has been for me!

Happy Monday!

I completely agree. It makes such a huge difference and looks especially fabulous with booties. Being 5’2 I always have this hem length problem!
