EYEBROW MICROBLADING REVIEW

Ok, here it is (finally – sorry for the wait)! I’m taking you with me to get my eyebrows microbladed; I’ll show you the process and the final result and hopefully answer any questions you may have.

1. YES, IT HURTS

…but not unbearably. I’ve never had a tattoo, but my guess is it’s similar…. only it’s on your face. For some reason the inner part of the eyebrow hurts less than the outer part. But you will most likely have some freezing.

2. DON’T FREAK OUT

It will be darker than you want for the first week – when I got home, my eyebrows were quite severe. It took about a week for mine to soften and I love the results.

3. IT TAKES TIME

My whole appointment took about 4 hours. It varies, but be prepared to be there for a while. The longest part was figuring out the shape, which is key. Tanya really took her time to get them perfect, which I appreciated.

4. DO YOUR RESEARCH

This is your face and microblading is semi-permanent. Don’t do it until you find someone whose work you love (I did research around Toronto and Vancouver for months before settling on Tanya).

5. KEEP THEM CLEAN

As per the instructions on the Studio Sashiko website, I gently washed with water and put the moisture barrier lotion that they supplied on a few times a day. You also need to avoid going underwater for two weeks (I didn’t wash my face in the shower). And no makeup (you honestly won’t need it)! As my brows were healing, there was some flaking, but I made sure to never pick at them so that they could heal naturally.

6. MAINTAIN THEM

Wear sunscreen daily (as you should be anyway), and minimize sun exposure, which can lighten your brows more quickly. Also, procedures like microdermabrasion, lasers, and peels could lighten pigment.

I am so happy with the results and will update you guys once I go back for my touch up in August. Comment below (or shoot me an email) if you have any more questions, I’m happy to help!

Hey girl, the results are beautiful! I would love to get microblading done, however, I’m so paranoid they will look bad! Lol.
P.S. Love your earrings, would you mind sharing the designer/brand?

Your brows look great Jill! Thanks for sharing your experience.

You mentioned that you return in August for touch ups. Do you have to continue touch ups afterwards?

I’ve heard the studio you went to is well known. People travel from all over the world to see Shaughnessy and her team.

Yep, depending on your skin and the pigment, a touchup every few years is probably a good idea!

I’ve had mine done for about 5 months and the pigment is almost nearly gone. I’m curious as to what you put on your eyebrows after the procedure just to insure the lady who does mine is telling me the right thing. Yours look great!

      Hey Taylor,

I know everyones skin reacts differently to the pigment. I’ve had mine for about 9 months and they still look good, but are fading a little bit. I’m going to get a touch up at about the 1 year mark. In terms of cleaning them after the procedure, they give me a simple moisturizer to use and I just keep them clean with water. Hope that’s helpful!

I’m surprised you ever had it done, your before eyebrows looked pretty good to me!! Did you normally fill them in before you had microblading?

It is good to note the before, during, and after the procedure checklist to prep you up well with the procedure you’ll be undergoing. Also, be guided that these procedure may not be applicable to all so be sure to have a skin allergy test as it may result to undesirable outcome so be sure to take note of that as well.

Something I was wondering…is it best to let your eyebrows grow out before you go in for your appointment? And than will they shape them there(with what hair I do have) or should I have them shaped prior too?

I actually don’t know and I assume it depends on if your brow artist does shaping as well. I’d ask them!

I’ve heard a major complaint from people is that they tend to turn a red tint after a while. Have you found that with yours?

Mine are ever so slightly red tinged a year after my touchup but it’s not noticeable and it doesn’t bother me. I’ll probably get another touch up this summer.

    Hey Jill,

How long did you wait to workout? I’ve heard mix things that you should wait a week but then some people said two.

I’d wait as long as you can – I think a week is fine, it was for me anyway!

Hi, I would really like to get my brows done, but I’m curious about what this procedure would do to my brows in the future. If I stop having them touched up in say 5-10yrs will my brows have any scarring? Does it in anyway hurt my brows to grow while I’m having this done? Essentially I don’t want to leave this process in the future and wish I had never done it because it’s left me in worse condition.

    Thanks so much for sharing!

      Hi Stacey!

I don’t believe it does your brows any damage long term, but you’d have to check with your microblader about that. It doesn’t hurt them while you have it as your eyebrow hairs are just pushed out of way to micro blade the skin. It shouldn’t scar your skin, but again I’d check with a professional.

I touch mine up every few years and then if you want to stop, you just let them fade 🙂 I hope that’s helpful!

      xx Jill

Hey, could you link the place where you got it done please? Also I’m not sure if you’re allowed to say but how much does it cost?
    Thank you 🙂

I went to Tanya at Studio Sashiko: https://studiosashiko.com
I would highly recommend her. The cost varies, but it’s usually between $350-1000, depending on your artist and their experience.

Nothing! Sometimes I will use a brow gel, but other than that, absolutely nothing!
