RETRO GLAM WAVES HAIR TUTORIAL

I have a bit of a signature hairstyle. I’ve perfected it over the years and got it down to a science. However… that can be boring. Who wants to look the same all the time? One of the things I love about beauty is that it is so easy to experiment – don’t like your lipstick? Take it off. Unhappy with your updo? Wash your hair. It’s empowering to be able to step outside of your comfort zone with new looks. Plus, it prevents you from getting stuck in a rut.

I teamed up with Shoppers Drug Mart to do just that – get out of my hair rut and create a polished, retro waves hair tutorial. It is most definitely out of my comfort zone and I loved it. Everything I used in the video is from Shoppers – they’re kind of a one-stop shop for anything hair related. They have salon-inspired hair care and colour products. It’s honestly my favourite beauty store… Between the cosmetics and salon hair care, I feel like I could spend hours (and way too much money) there. At least I get points with purchase that can be used towards more beauty products… I also ended up finding my new favourite mousse and texturizing spray: Got2B Volumaniac mousse, and Cake The Wave Maker, respectively. I swear to god I’ve never had so much body and added thickness in my life. I’ve already started using them daily.

You may have also noticed the unfamiliar Conair curling contraption in the video. I had heard about these curl stylers, but was hesitant to try them – it almost seemed too good to be true? It was actually easy to use and gave me the perfect retro curl for this look. You can also use it for looser, beachy waves with a lower setting.

Products used:
– Got2B Volumaniac bodifying mousse
– Cake The Wave Maker texturizing spray
–
Conair Infiniti Pro Curl Secret hair styler
–
Got2B Volumaniac hairspray

I also wanted to let you guys know about Shoppers #HairGoals Contest. I would love for you to try the look I did here (or your own take on a salon-inspired hair look) – be sure to tag me if you do! Submit the photo or video for a chance to win a $350 salon-inspired basket for you and a friend (that’s a lot of good hair days right there…) More details here. Good luck!

I love both this video and the glam results! I have to laugh bc I have way too much volume, and you want more. I have to wash my hair and give it at least 12 hours to air dry before heat tools bc the blow dryer gives way to much volume. Then it would take me an hour to do those curls. I kind of wish God had distributed hair volume more evenly. LOL!
I love your make up here too!

      Hi Penny,

They’re definitely not all sponsored, but I do collaborate with brands that I love and actually use. If you want more information about sponsorship, check out this post: http://theaugustdiaries.com/sponsorship/
