tried and true

recently, my boyfriend said to me, “you always wear the same accessories- same ray bans, same watch and jewelry…don’t you think you should switch it up for your readers?” first of all, thanks babe. and second, yes, but i have found things that work for me and that i don’t have to think twice about putting on. because not many of us have 45 minutes in the morning to re-assemble our jewelry for the day. our society (and the fashion world) is centered on new-ness; we always want something new and exciting. if i could afford a new pair of sunglasses every week to go with my new watch, sure, that’d be great, but most of us can’t. and you know what, that’s fine because it’s not reality. the tried and true things can be what work best for you; sometimes the oldies really are the goodies.

speaking of which, i’ve had this tshirt for a looooong time, and i can never get enough. i have no idea where its from, but it’s a vintage Queen tee (LOVE freddie mercury) and whenever i can’t figure out what to wear, i always end up putting it on. that’s what happened with this outfit; i had another one on and it just didn’t feel like me, so i reached for my old fav. it’s important to me to feel like me in an outfit, and to feel comfortable because that’s what really shows. if a woman is wearing a crazy pair of pants, but totally rocking them, that’s what i notice. i may not like to pants personally, but if she is confident in them, then they work on her and i appreciate that.

so, yes, i do wear a lot of the same things over and over (especially accessories-wise). but i’ve found what works on me and i like the edge my ray ban sunglasses give my outfit. i love my michael kors watch, i wear it every day and don’t feel like i need to buy another one. just because something isn’t new and exciting doesn’t mean it’s not stylish. it’s how you make it work for you that’s interesting.

I hate to admit it, but yes, I’m guilty of wanted new-ness in my life… well, sartorially speaking.  But, I’d have to agree with, some oldies really are goodies.  I took wear the same watch (Michael Kors, gifted from my BFF last year, she said I needed something fabulous to celebrate my last year as a twenty-something year old, LOL!) and my trusty Rayban aviators.  I swear, these glasses look good on just about everyone.

I really love your style, girl… and super excited to have stumbled across your blog.  You can bet I’ll be back for a visit, for sure!!  Hope you’re having a great day.

Thanks for your comment Sharon! The Michael Kors watch and RayBans are such classics! And they last such a long time! I saw a DIY piece of jewelry on Lily of Bleed for Fashion and LOVED IT! Great job girl!
