VACATION SKINCARE + MAKEUP TIPS

I am currently in Palm Springs and so I wanted to put together a video all about vacation skincare and makeup. I am not a fan of wearing very much makeup while on vacation (pool or beach) since it looks like you tried much too hard and you will probably sweat it off anyway. However, I am a fan of using self-tanner (especially on your face), and I outline my favourites in the video.

Even if you are in the dead of winter, this will hopefully inspire you to add a little glow to your skin. Happy Wednesday my friends!

Love the videos! I think you should up them to twice a week because I am a fan.

Glad to hear you like the Tom Ford makeup line because I have been wanting to try it. The packaging is gorgeous. Just pure elegance.

Have the best and relaxing time in Palm Springs!

I have always been so intimidated by self tanner (especially after an unfortunate incident shortly before my wedding where I went to a spray tan place), but I might just have to give some of these products a go. I am deathly pale right now, and summer feels too far away to get some sun, haha.

What do you think of Laura Mercier candlelit powder? That was recommended to me for my beach wedding but your comment about powder makes me think twice.

I haven’t tried the candlelit powder (but many people have been talking about it, so I may),so I can’t give you a first-hand account but my advice on this is to always, always try your makeup out beforehand and take photos so you can see what the makeup looks like in a photograph. A powder can definitely still work in the daytime, but you don’t want something that’s too cakey. Hopefully that helps and let me know if you have any other questions!

LOVEEEEE these videos. Your face is beautiful and the make up looks you create and a sparkle to an already starry sky!

I feel I may have just developed a very unhealthy relationship with TF though!

    Keep them coming Jill!

Does Jane Iredale’s powder foundation sit well over large pores? I’ve been trying to find a powder foundation for vacation as well, but the few I’ve tried still need primer or they emphasize pores it seems 🙁

    Love the videos!
One question for your upcoming day to night look videos: I always wonder if I need to totally scrap my day makeup, wash, and start fresh because I wear a lot heavier eye makeup when I go out than during the day. Any tips on this?

      Hi Katie,

I actually just filmed a day to night series that will go up next week so this is perfect timing. I definitely don’t think you need to start fresh when going from day to night. A few concealer, powder and eye or lip touch ups will do. Just add your shadow/eye makeup on top of the daytime look. Hopefully the upcoming videos will give you a few more tips, so stay tuned! And let me know if you have any more questions 🙂

This was great!! I’m going to Bali in a few months (hello humidity!!) and I’m definitely going to invest in several of these products. Thanks for the tutorial!

Great tutorial, I’ve always struggled with a beach/summer look that doesn’t look too over the top. This is perfect & will give it a try. Any tips for a daytime eye look that’s not too basic? For the longest time I’ve just been using the colour Wheat from Bobbie brown and some gel eyeliner but was looking for something easy to do but with a little more punch.

Love your tutorials! What did you use for your eyebrows in this video?

Love this video! You mentioned highlighter can look cakey during the day if it has a lot of sparkle- I was thinking that the Albotross Nars is pretty sparkly. Do you generally like that one for during the day? (I’m looking for one without any sparkle 🙂 ) Thanks in advance!!

Ok! Seriously!! Love, love this look! Absolutely gorgeous… it just looks so fresh and glowy, which is a look I’m always trying to achieve (hello bronzer and highlighter) – but am always worried about looking too sparkly in the sun! I think I may need to invest in the TF cream blush.. I’ve also always been intimidated by self tanner on the face, but now being in my early 30’s I’m trying to be much more cognizant of tanning my face – I too made that mistake in the past.

I can’t get enough of your videos. I love that you’re posting weekly and really, the more the better, so twice a week would be amazing!
